It's raining...

It's raining...

and it's fall... a season of change.. or is that a change of season... Usually I love this time of year but for some reason I'm having a hard time with it this year. I've been kind of a depressed slug for the past week although I am feeling a bit better today. I think it's all the changes going on, not only in the scenery around me, but in my work life as well... Due to a new administrative interface that was built for my largest client, they are now able to make updates and changes to their website themselves... themselves... as in.. "instead of me"... so my work load has been cut considerably... so considerably that I no longer need to be available 40 hours per week for them. So... basically... I'm looking for a job...

It is a real cross roads for me... There is my own company which has just been plugging along in the background, ignored... well.. not ignored but I was too busy working with the main client to tend to developing new business... so I kind of cut it's throat... throw in the competition and the rock-bottom pricing from sites like GoDaddy and I don't think it's feasible to try and tend it back to life (part of the reason I didn't tend to it these past 2 years)... so... I've decided to simply tend the existing customers and not seek to replace the lost work... Imagine that... no more insane hours of work while being nibbled to death by ducks... (I love that expression... one of my old mentors used to use it all the time, it refers to the problem of alot of little clients asking for "a little something for free"... each little nibble in and of itself won't kill ya, but when you've got 30 or so ducks nibbling away it's an incredibly painful way to go)...

So anyway... that's that... it is indeed a time of change for me... and not all bad... I'm rather looking forward to doing a nice sane little 40 hours somewhere and going home without taking the job with me... the only problem is finding that nice little 40 hour a week job... OY...

Poor Purina... That's right.. in case you can't read it, the note says "Passed on to another life"... This is what greeted me this morning when I went to give her her breakfast. My husband just called to fill in the details.. It seemed somewhere around 2am the Stupid Little Angry Dog was bouncing off the bedroom door to be let out. So my husband, thinking that last nites snack of leftover pizza had gotten to her, opened the door and proceeded to take her upstairs to let her out. As they opened the door at the top of the stairs they both spotted something brown and fuzzy go shooting past. And the chase was on. Unfortunately for Purina (sob**) Gretchen is part Jack Russell terrier - as in - rat killer! Before my husband could stop her she was happily running around the house with the poor little thing in her mouth. He was able to get Purina away from Gretchen, but (sob**) too late. Even with my anti-hamster escape efforts of wiring her door shut she was still able to push the door open enough to get out. And nature being what it is, the hamster's urge to escape and the Stupid Little Angry Dog's built in need to catch fuzzy rodents was too much for the both of them. So Purina.. OH PURINA IS GONE... and the dog can't figure out why I'm mad at her when I should be proud of her for doing 'her job'... *sigh... It's been a bitch of a week...

Drive-by shooting... Kind of strange how this one turned out... the gate is in focus but the rest is a blur... I don't usually (ok I've never done it before) do this type of photography... but the remaining fall colors thru the wet windows today was just too lovely to not give it a shot...

My pics are missing...

Hey all.. yeah.. Flickr.com, the service that hosts all my pics and serves them up to you, seems to be having a case of the hiccups today, so I guess you get a text post for a change... So.. what's doin'?

The Ware Farmers' Market... we're winding down to the end of the season, we have just this weekend and next weekend left.. so if you haven't visited us yet, come one down to Grenville Park. We were going to try and go into November with the market, but with the frosty.. ok... frikin' freezing mornings we've been having lately, I'm REALLY glad we're shutting down at the end of October... It's been really awesome tho... we really have become a big happy family down there... Last week one of our vendors brought his grill and set up a feast for all of us of hamburgers, hotdogs and yummy chili, the Orchard threw in a couple gallons of cider, our meat vendor brought us all the MOST delicious blueberry muffins to start out the day, and a great time was had by all.. It was more of a cook-out with a market thrown in!

The vendors have all been doing VERY well, with several of them selling out of their veggies! I've been doing enough business to keep me bringing my photo cards back each week and even expanding my line into magnets (which did really well last week!)... I've got a couple more ideas brewing in the back of my head and have some materials being delivered this week to make up a couple of samples and see how they do (hopefully they will arrive in time for this week!)... nope.. not gonna tell you what but here's a hint - they will be wearable! So.. anyway.. if your in the area, come one down and visit the market, you'll be glad you did!

Halloween! Woohoo! Don't you love this time of year? I do... we missed it last year as we were on a cruise to hell in Bermuda (2 hurricanes!) but I'm really hoping that big bro and family are going to have their Halloween party again this year. I have heard some talk about it but nothing set in stone... if their gonna hopefully they'll let us all know asap so we can get our costumes together... hint.. hint...

Anyway... that's the mini scoop for now... hopefully Flickr will have their glitch squared away right quick... they usually do a really good job of fixing things and hopefully this will be no exception... now I just need to find the time to get out there and take some new pics!

I've been selling some of my photo's at the local Farmers' Market on Saturday mornings and this is part of my display... it really is a learning experience...

I'm still refining my display.. and we've only got 3 more saturdays to go... oh well.. I should be all set in time for next year's market.. LOL.. If you click on the pic you'll get a ton of "notes" that have been attached to the picture... which ones sold.. which didn't.. I think what I learned this week is.. my stock is getting really low.. but I'm still selling... and possibly easier.... maybe I'm giving people too many choices... hhmmm...

More news from Honey Bee...

It's fall...
Originally uploaded by BayRoadPhoto/Laura.

I just got a really nice, and yet slightly puzzling, call from Honey Bee Orchard today.. you know.. where I have my greeting cards. Seems there was a gentleman in there yesterday that spent more than a half hour and 2 cups of coffee going thru every single card - both large and small - on both my racks. He identified himself to Jody as a "Professional Photographer" and get this.. HE LOVED MY STUFF! Woohoo.. Seems he insisted on taking down all my information and my URL for future looking... She said he was full of questions.. do I do portraits.. I should blow this one up and frame it for sale... The light and angle on that one is awesome... and on and on... so much so that Jody couldn't get a word in edgewise to get HIS information... so... I guess it'll be a mystery until/unless I hear from him... and I hope I do... sounds like if nothing else he would be an interesting person to talk to... but in the meantime... I'm just REALLY flattered!
