I was framed

I was framed
Originally uploaded by BayRoadPhoto/Laura.
I decided to do some frames for my prints that I'll be selling at the craft fair and of course the Ware Farmers' Market. I decided to stick with "simple"... glass - frameless... some with mats, some without, some with white borders around the pic, some print to edge - it depends on the pic...

People are SO picky... I felt it was best to find something that would protect the print... give it a finished look... and yet not be something that is distinctively "country" or "contemporary" or "too fancy" in style... I may still pick up some more frames that are wood or black or something... but for a majority of an offering... I decided on these.

What do you think?

Keep laughing, Lady... I could peck your eye out!

It was dark.. it was dingy... it smelled... and the picture quality sucks... but I laugh everytime I see it and I can't believe I haven't posted this yet!

Ok.. so it's not a kitty... whatever...

It's not gonna be a good day.

Adolph gets his grouch on.

Yep... it's kitties all around today... Kitties here... Kitties on the Masslive blog... "All kitties... All the time..." That's my new motto.

Little Help...

Dear Readers,

Glad to see you all here. I've got a question for you. I have a craft fair coming up and I'd like your opinions. You all get a segment of my photo's here and I was wondering if you had any favorites that you think would do well as greeting cards, prints or even jewelry. Should I offer framed prints? or Prints at all? What about posters? As for jewelry, I'm thinking of doing some lapel pins (they are resin coated so they will look almost like they are embedded in glass). Which of my pics would you wear on your chest? Any? None? What size prints do you think? What about framed 4x6 or 5x8? or should I just offer "naked prints"? or maybe just matted prints ready for framing?

Maybe it depends on what kind of craft fair. This is to benefit the Children's Miracle Network - being held May 19th - in the parking lot of the Westfield, Mass Wal-Mart parking lot. I've taken 2 parking spaces, so I do have a good deal of room. Anyone have any display ideas? I need to be sure that it's wind-proof. I have a standard rotating card rack and several tables and a pop-up tent. But I could use some really good "eye-catching - get your butt over here" ideas.

Any help would be appreciated. What would you like to see?

An Evening with the Eagles...

They were gorgeous... I SO need a bigger lens... Yes, we have a couple of eagles nesting in the area, and no, I'm not gonna say where... Sorry, but when we go and visit them there are already many, many people there and I'm afraid if more start to show up they will get scared off and abandon their nests... So you'll just have to watch the blog to keep an eye on them... OH... and if you want a better look... I've got a new "L" telephoto lens and teleconverter all picked out, now I just have to come up with the 2 grand I need to get Amazon.com to actually send them to me... Funny how that works... they will only send your stuff you put in your shopping cart when you click on the "pay now" button... and did I mention... I accept tips! OH.. and did I also further mention, I have a birthday coming up?? :)

Heh... subtle enough for ya?

The Stupid Little Angry Dog™ loses her grip... no.. I did not photoshop this in any way... there were several barn cats watching the action on the left of the screen, she was trying to keep one eye on the purple snake and one eye on the kitties...

Another one for the Utata "Picture This" series, where they give you the title and you make the picture... this couldn't have worked out more perfectly... I was figuring on just getting some shots of her tugging on the toy and as luck would have it.. she lost her grip just as I hit the shutter... serendipity..

OK.. so here's the OFFICIAL announcement of last weeks "Good News":

I was contacted last week by Masslive.com (my local newspaper's website) asking me to write a Photo Blog for them. Here is post number ONE... YAY!

They haven't added my new blog to their menu system as yet, I imagine they were waiting for me to actually post something to it first... so for now you will have to get there via the direct address: http://blog.masslive.com/bayroadphoto/

Not to worry... I'll still continue with this one, and will try to keep each blog unique!

And MORE good news...

Just got this in my email:

Laura,
I need to send you a (small) check for photo used in The Guide … You may have sent me your mailing address, but I can’t seem to locate it.
Can you tell me where to send this?
Thanks
Pat
Yeah... this is the Johnny Appleseed Trail Guide - given away free along Route 2 across the great state of Massachusetts! I can't wait to get a copy... or even notification of which image they selected for the guide... I'll certainly let you know as soon as I do... and you can bet that there will be a photo of the photo when I get a copy of the Guide itself!

Serving Tray/Bird Feeder/Party Hat

I'm not sure if I've posted pics of my old serving tray that I've turned into a bird feeder or not... well.. apparently it now has a third use... As a party hat for the local bear... Yes.. they are out and about and they trashed my feeding station the last 2 nites in a row... this morning the silver tray was gone altogether... so if you see a black bear out there wearing a silver party hat, ask him if I could have it back please.

OH... and there will be some news shortly as to a NEW blog where you will be able to find my pics... Nope... not gonna tell you where until it's a done deal and all set up... let's just say... it's awesome!

Diary of a Time Traveler

It's been 3 years in the making. I think I'm ready to go.

Yes... it's another project... This one was a photo with the title "Diary of a Time Traveler"... What? You haven't sat in your yard with a spaghetti strainer on your head?? pfft... you don't know what your missing!

I'd recommend clicking thru and checking out the notes on the photo as to what all those components are and what they do...

There is no joy in Mudville...

Yes... mud... and snow... *sigh** I hate spring! I've got a bunch of new toys sitting in my Amazon.com shopping cart but I can't order them... There is no freakin' way UPS is gonna make it up the driveway...

In an honor of Easter... Here's a question for ya'

ok... so.. you know how occasionally a question pops into your head and you just can't stop thinking about it... Well.. the Easter Season has brought this one to my mind... Maybe someone out there can answer it for me, either that, or maybe I can spread the love of going nuts trying to figure it out... Alright... here goes...

You know that prayer "Hail Mary" that goes..

"Holy Mary, Mother of God, Pray for us sinners..."

uumm... Wasn't Mary the mother of JESUS... Who is the SON of GOD... so... how could Mary be both the Mother of GOD.. and of JESUS??

Huh?? Answer me that!

I'm not really sure about this one... Too dark? Too "Painterly"? "Too hard to figure out what the hell it is?" Help...

Wile E. Coyote heads to College...

My husband and son took off to Newport RI yesterday while I freakin' worked... They spotted this coyote on the campus of Salve Regina College... even scarier.. is that a DAY CARE Center with the colorful turkeys in the windows?

**THIS JUST IN - OH - The power of the InterWeb**

I received the following email in response to this post:

Hello Laura,

Your blog with the photo of the coyote on the campus of Salve Regina came to my attention through Google. I hope that your son and husband enjoyed their visit to campus over the weekend.

I wanted to address your comment about the coyote and the appearance that it seemed to be standing near a day care center. The building that the coyote was photographed in front of is used by our education department, and that room is a simulation of an elementary school classroom – for future teachers to test ideas etc.

With regards to the coyote, we have notified local and state authorities, but they are unable to remove the animal at the present time. We have notified the campus community of the coyote’s presence and have instructed individuals to keep a safe distance as a precautionary measure.

I just wanted to clarify this for you in case you were concerned.

Thank you.
